Have Questions About AI? Ask Us.
Artificial intelligence is changing how businesses create content, communicate with customers, manage information, and handle repetitive work. But for many business owners, AI still raises more questions than answers.
Which AI tools are actually useful? Can AI save your team time? Is your business ready for automation? How does AI affect Google rankings and visibility in AI-powered search results? How can you use AI without losing the personal touch that makes your business different?
That is where we can help.
At Fox Valley Web Design, we work with businesses to identify practical ways AI can support their existing operations. We are not interested in adding technology simply because it is new. Our focus is finding solutions that improve efficiency, reduce repetitive work, strengthen marketing, and create a better customer experience.
What Can AI Do for Your Business?
Every business operates differently, which means there is no single AI solution that works for everyone. Depending on your goals, AI may be able to help with:
- Website chatbots and customer support
- Automated lead follow-up
- Email and social media content
- Search engine optimization and AI search visibility
- Internal knowledge bases
- Custom forms and workflows
- Appointment and inquiry management
- Data organization and reporting
- Repetitive administrative tasks
- Custom AI tools and software integrations
Sometimes the best solution is a simple automation. Other situations may require a custom system that connects your website, CRM, email, forms, or other business software.
AI, SEO, and the Future of Search
People are no longer finding businesses through Google alone. They are also asking questions through ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Perplexity, voice assistants, and other AI-powered platforms.
This makes clear website content, structured information, strong local signals, and authoritative answers increasingly important. Your website should not only be understandable to potential customers. It should also be easy for search engines and AI systems to interpret.
Our approach combines traditional search engine optimization with answer engine optimization, or AEO. The goal is to help your business appear when people search normally and when they ask AI tools direct questions about the products or services you provide.
You Do Not Need to Become an AI Expert
Business owners do not need to understand every new AI platform or technical term. You simply need to understand where AI could improve your business, and where it would create unnecessary complexity.
We can help you evaluate your current process, identify realistic opportunities, and determine what is worth implementing. We can also explain the risks, limitations, costs, and ongoing maintenance involved before anything is built.
Frequently asked questions
Do we need to be technical to work with AI?
No. You describe the task or the problem in plain language, and we handle the technical side. Knowing your business is your job; the tools are ours.
What kinds of AI questions can we ask?
Anything: whether a task can be automated, which tools are worth paying for, how AI search affects your rankings, or whether an idea for a custom tool is realistic.
Does asking cost anything?
No. Asking is free, and you will get a straight answer, including when the honest answer is that you do not need AI for something.
Ask Us Your AI Questions
Have an idea for an AI tool but are not sure whether it is possible? Wondering whether a task could be automated? Trying to choose between different platforms? Concerned that your competitors are using AI more effectively?
Ask us.
Send Fox Valley Web Design your questions about AI, automation, websites, marketing, SEO, or custom software. Even if you only have the beginning of an idea, we can help determine what the next step should be.
AI does not need to be confusing. Let’s find out what it can realistically do for your business.
AEO Without the Hype: A Practical AI Search Guide for Local Businesses
Short answer: Answer engine optimization (AEO) is the work of making trustworthy website information easy for people and search systems to find, understand, verify, and cite. It is not a replacement for SEO, and there is no special switch that guarantees a mention in ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Copilot, or another assistant.
For a local business, the practical AEO playbook is straightforward: keep the site crawlable and indexable, publish clear first-hand information, answer specific customer questions, identify the business consistently, support claims with evidence, and maintain the technical SEO foundation.
What is the difference between SEO, AEO, and GEO?
Search engine optimization (SEO)
SEO helps search engines crawl, understand, index, and rank useful pages. It includes technical access, site structure, page titles, content, internal links, reputation, local signals, and user experience.
Answer engine optimization (AEO)
AEO emphasizes content that answers a question clearly and can be interpreted in context. It often includes concise answers, descriptive headings, definitions, comparisons, steps, FAQs, authorship, and sources.
Generative engine optimization (GEO)
GEO is commonly used for efforts intended to improve visibility in generative AI responses. In practice, it overlaps heavily with good SEO and AEO: accessible pages, useful original information, clear entities, strong reputation, and verifiable claims.
The labels are less important than the outcome. A potential customer should be able to ask a natural-language question and find a reliable page that directly helps.
Start with indexing, not an “AI trick”
A page that search systems cannot access has little chance of being surfaced as a supporting source. Check for site-wide or page-level noindex directives, robots.txt blocks, password protection, broken canonicals, server errors, and navigation that leaves important pages isolated.
Google’s current generative AI optimization guidance says the same foundational SEO practices apply to AI Overviews and AI Mode. A page must be indexed and eligible to appear with a snippet; Google does not require special AI markup, a special writing style, or an llms.txt file for inclusion.
OpenAI’s current publisher guidance says sites that want content considered for summaries and snippets in ChatGPT search should not block OAI-SearchBot. Crawler access is only eligibility—not a promise that a page will be cited.
Answer the question before expanding
Do not make a reader search through six paragraphs for the basic answer. Lead with a direct, accurate response, then explain the conditions, options, evidence, and next steps.
For example, a useful service page might begin with:
A commercial roof inspection documents the current condition of the roof, identifies visible damage and maintenance concerns, and gives the property owner a basis for deciding what to address next. The scope and report format should be confirmed before the inspection.
That opening is more useful than “Welcome to our website. We are proud to provide quality solutions.” The detailed sections that follow can cover process, limitations, timing, photographs, credentials, service area, and cost factors.
Build pages around real customer decisions
Interview the people who answer phones, write estimates, sell, install, repair, and support customers. Collect the questions that appear repeatedly before a customer buys.
- What does the service include?
- Who is it a good fit for?
- What affects the price?
- How long does it take?
- What should the customer prepare?
- What are the tradeoffs between options?
- What can go wrong?
- What happens after the work is complete?
Turn those questions into durable service pages, buying guides, checklists, comparisons, case studies, and FAQs. One comprehensive, maintained resource is usually more valuable than many shallow posts created only to target keyword variations.
Make the business identity unambiguous
Use a consistent business name, address or service area, phone number, website, description, and expertise across the site and trusted external profiles. Maintain a clear About page, contact information, service pages, and author or reviewer details where readers would expect them.
Relevant structured data can reinforce visible facts about an organization, local business, article, product, event, or breadcrumb trail. Markup must match the page. Do not invent ratings, locations, credentials, authors, or services, and do not assume schema will force an AI citation.
Demonstrate first-hand experience
Generic summaries are easy to reproduce. Original experience gives a page a reason to exist.
- Show real projects and explain the decisions behind them.
- Use original photography, diagrams, screenshots, and video.
- Describe the process actually used by the team.
- Include limitations and situations where another option may be better.
- Update time-sensitive facts and show a meaningful reviewed date.
- Attribute the content to a qualified person or team.
Google’s guidance on helpful, reliable, people-first content emphasizes original value, completeness, clear authorship, first-hand expertise, and content created primarily to help an intended audience.
Use a format people can scan and machines can parse
Clear structure is good communication. Use one descriptive page title, a logical heading hierarchy, short paragraphs, lists when they improve comprehension, labeled tables for genuine comparisons, and links that describe their destination.
Define unfamiliar terms. State units, dates, geographic limits, and assumptions. Keep the main answer in text rather than hiding it only inside an image, video, accordion, or downloadable PDF.
Cite primary sources and qualify claims
When a page relies on a law, platform rule, product specification, or industry standard, link to the responsible primary source. Distinguish a verified fact from professional judgment. Avoid claims such as “guaranteed number one,” “Google-approved,” or “AI will recommend your business.”
Transparent wording increases trust:
- “Starting at” is different from a fixed final price.
- “May improve eligibility” is different from “will appear.”
- “Our process includes” is stronger than an unsupported superlative.
- “Last reviewed July 2026” is useful only if a real review occurred.
Connect related pages with internal links
A site should make its areas of expertise understandable. Link a practical blog guide to the relevant service page, portfolio example, process explanation, and contact action. Link the service page back to the strongest supporting resources.
For Fox Valley Web Design, this article supports the primary AI search and AEO service page without replacing it. The SEO page, website design page, and relevant portfolio work provide additional context.
Measure AI visibility carefully
AI answers can vary by prompt, location, session, model, and time. A small set of manual prompts is a snapshot, not a stable ranking report.
Use several signals:
- Qualified leads that mention ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Perplexity, or an AI Overview.
- Referral traffic identifiable in analytics.
- Search Console impressions and clicks for question-based queries.
- Growth in branded searches and visits to authoritative resource pages.
- Periodic checks of representative prompts with the date and wording recorded.
Do not report a one-time mention as permanent visibility. Focus on whether useful, accurate content is earning discovery and helping customers decide.
A practical AEO checklist for a local business
- Confirm that important pages are publicly accessible, indexable, and included in the site’s navigation.
- Review robots.txt and crawler controls intentionally.
- Define the business, services, locations, and audience consistently.
- Choose the ten customer questions most connected to revenue.
- Give each question a direct answer and a complete supporting explanation.
- Add real examples, original media, process details, and limitations.
- Show accurate authorship or review responsibility.
- Link to primary sources for time-sensitive or technical claims.
- Add only relevant structured data that matches visible content.
- Connect each resource to the appropriate service and conversion path.
- Review accuracy on a documented schedule.
- Measure leads and discovery without promising guaranteed citations.
Frequently asked questions
Does AEO replace SEO?
No. Crawlability, indexing, site structure, helpful content, internal links, reputation, and page experience remain the foundation. AEO emphasizes clear answers and verifiable context within that foundation.
Do I need special schema for AI Overviews?
Google currently says there is no special schema or additional technical requirement for its AI features. Use supported structured data when it accurately describes the visible page, not as an AI shortcut.
Does adding an FAQ guarantee an AI citation?
No. FAQs can help customers and make common questions easy to locate, but no content format guarantees inclusion. Also, Google generally limits FAQ rich results to authoritative government and health sites, so a normal business should not expect an expanded FAQ search display.
Should I create an llms.txt file?
No major search or AI platform currently requires an llms.txt file for inclusion. Start with crawlability, indexing, useful HTML content, accurate robots controls, and established SEO practices.
Can an agency guarantee that ChatGPT will recommend my business?
No credible agency can guarantee a recommendation or citation from an independent AI system. An agency can improve access, clarity, content quality, structured information, and authority signals, then monitor results.

Northern Lights on display in Northeastern Wisconsin
Northern Lights Green Bay Wisconsin – Solar storms brought the colorful Northern Lights back to Wisconsin for the second night in a row on November 12, 2025. A large burst of energy called a coronal mass ejection (CME) struck Earth’s atmosphere Tuesday, prompting space weather forecasters to issue a strong geomagnetic storm watch (G4) for Wednesday night. It is expected to continue into the pre-dawn hours Thursday morning. #northernlights #wisconsin #greenbay #abovewisconsin #FVWD
The SEO times they are a changin’ • Artificial Intelligence (AI) Search Engines
AI is significantly enhancing the accuracy and relevance of search results. Traditional search engines relied heavily on keyword matching and basic algorithms to rank pages. However, with the integration of AI technologies like natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning, search engines can now understand the context and intent behind a user’s query. This means that even if a user doesn’t use the exact keywords, the search engine can still deliver relevant results by interpreting the meaning behind the query. Google’s BERT (Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers) is a prime example of this, as it helps the search engine understand the nuances of human language, leading to more precise search results.
Today’s AI search landscape: Customers may discover a business through Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, ChatGPT Search, Perplexity, or Copilot Search in Bing, then compare the answer with Gemini, Claude, Meta AI, or Grok. Clear content, structured data, and real expertise help these systems understand when your business is relevant.
AI is revolutionizing the way search engines handle voice and visual searches. With the rise of digital assistants like Siri, Alexa, and Google Assistant, voice search has become increasingly popular. AI enables these systems to process and understand spoken language, allowing users to search the web using natural, conversational speech. Similarly, AI-powered visual search tools, such as Google Lens, allow users to search using images instead of text. By analyzing the content of an image, AI can identify objects, landmarks, and even translate text within images, providing a more interactive and intuitive search experience.
AI is playing a crucial role in personalizing search experiences. By analyzing user behavior, preferences, and past interactions, AI can tailor search results to individual users. This personalization extends beyond just search results; it influences the ads and content recommendations users see as well. For instance, if a user frequently searches for vegan recipes, the search engine might prioritize vegan-related content in future searches. This level of personalization not only improves user satisfaction but also increases engagement and retention, making AI an indispensable tool in the evolution of search engines.
