Kewaunee Becomes A City (1893)

Kewaunee incorporated as a village in 1873 and became a city twenty years later in 1893. County seat since 1852, the harbor town grew on lumber, fishing, and ferries, and craftsman Joseph Svoboda’s 1883 woodworking shop became famous far beyond Wisconsin.
