Nicolet And Chequamegon National Forests Born (1933)

President Hoover proclaimed the Nicolet National Forest on March 2, 1933, and the Chequamegon followed that November. Together they returned well over a million acres of cutover Northwoods land to healthy forest that anchors the region’s outdoor life today.
