The Shiocton Shooting Range is a Public Firearms Range, located northwest of Appleton. The Shiocton Shooting Range is located inside Shiocton Lake Park in the Village of Shiocton. The rifle and archery range can be accessed by entering the Park and following Lake Park St. past the baseball diamonds and around the back side of the swim lake. The handgun range is to the east (left) of the swim lake.
The range was first opened in 1971. It was built with contributions from the Pittman Robertson Funds (derived from Federal taxes on firearms and ammunitions sales), The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and the NRA Foundation.
The Shiocton Shooting Range is located entirely within the Shiocton Village limits and is one of the few ‘open to the public’ shooting ranges in the state.
The range consists of a 50 and 100, a 200/300/500 yard range (you can drive down with your trucks or cars), and handgun range (18 yards) and an archery range with multiple stations for different situations. Covered shooting tables with and stationary target stands are at each range. Please stay on the gravel road.
Occasionally the range will be reserved for special events and closed to the public. It will also be closed for maintenance and mowing though we try not to have all ranges to be closed at the same time. Any closures will be posted on the shooting range website and Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/shioctonshootingrange.org/
We have made several improvements to the shooting range and made it user friendly and safe. It is up to the individual shooters to clean up after themselves and make sure things are ready for the next shooter. Doing this helps to ensure the range stays open to the public.
